This Saturday, May 21st, the Rick’s Truck & Equipment BOSS sprint cars will roar into Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. The historic Wayne County oval has hosted more BOSS events than any other. Inaugural series champion Dustin Smith of Russiaville, Indiana has 2 wins there along with local driver Sheldon Haudenschild. The fast 3/8 mile dirt track has been the setting for several great events in tour history with winners coming from the 16th and 19th starting positions in the past.

The opening event of 2016 was won by the youngest driver in the BOSS championship chase as 17 year old Cooper Clouse of Ohio City, Ohio scored the win at Fremont Speedway. Defending series champion Shawn Westerfeld of Guilford, Indiana ran 3rd in the opener and is on a quest to become the first repeat series champion. Past champions Dustin Smith and Mike Miller of Wapakoneta, Ohio join Westerfeld in that quest this season.

Fans can expect another stout field of wingless warriors as Michael Fischesser, Justin Owen, Aaron Middaugh, Bob McMillin, Cody Gardner, Chad Wilson, Joe Butera, Kirk Jeffries, Scott Hardman, Steve Little, and Brandon Spithaler have all returned for 2016. In addition, new rookies on the tour include Drew Rader, Andy Feil, Bobby Distel and Stratton Briggs. Wayne County winged regular Mitch Harble will be making his wingless debut Saturday as well. With no membership fees and an open tire rule, you just never know who will show up at the true outlaw BOSS events.

Saturday’s event is one of the best deals in racing for the fans. Three headlining classes and a support class for only $15 general admission as in addition to the BOSS non wing sprints, the weekly winged 410 sprints and RUSH late models are on the card along with super stocks for “school spirit night”. All students will be admitted free for this event. Pit passes will be $30 for adults with kids pit passes (ages 6-14) just $15. All gates will open at 3 pm with drivers meeting at 5:30. Hot laps will get under way at 6 with racing at 7 pm.

For teams racing at WCS, this IS a track where mufflers or insert baffles are required. Fuel and parts trucks will be at the track and transponder rental is $10. Wayne County is a track to be commended for having a system that can accept either brand of transponder, so if you have your own, you WILL be able to use it. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series looks forward to seeing everyone Saturday!
