(Middlebourne, WV) After a strong start to the 2016 racing season at the Tyler County Speedway with three completed events in the month of April it has been Mother Nature taking the checkers so far in May. In the midst of a wet, dreary month of May so far, race fans and teams are itching to get back to the ‘Bullring’ as a host of special events awaits. From this week’s Tammy Clegg Tribute Hotmod Special to the rescheduled UFo/STARS Topless 50 and closing out May with a visit by the World’s Most Powerful Stock Cars the World of Outlaw Late Models for two nights May 28-29 and the running of the 5th Annual Jackpot 100.

This Saturday Night, May 14th will see the ever popular and continuing growing class of Gear 2 Graphics EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske’s Performance Parts take center stage in the running of the 10th Annual Tammy Clegg Tribute race. Always a special night at the ‘Bullring’ as we honor one of Tyler County’s own and the $500 to win event will also see the winner grab a coveted spot in the Workin’ Man World Championship to be held later this summer. Defending Tammy Clegg Tribute winner Travis Thomas will look to pick up his 4th Clegg Tribute race and remain perfect on the young season going 3 for 3 so far. Also on the May 14th card Tyler County Speedway will host racing in all divisions including the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land & Timber, FASTRAK Late Models, Two Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modifieds, Chris Metz State Farm Insurance Modlites presented by Cedar Run Farms, 4 Cylinders and the MWRA Mini Wedges. Gates open at 4pm, MWRA Mini Wedges at 6pm with hotlaps and qualifying to follow. Early Season Point Leaders at the Bullring

With three races in the books, the 2016 racing season at Tyler County Speedway looks to be one of the most competitive in the tracks 42 year history. Kyle Thomas of Pennsboro has not secured a win yet but has been knocking on the door each time out with a 2nd, 3rd and 5th place run. So far the driver of the 57 machine sits alone at the top in the point standings seeking his first Tyler County Speedway Super Late Model track championship.

Moving from the FASTRAK division to the Two Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modified division Salem, WV’s Shawn Jett aboard the Crusader Fabrication/ Slicks Auto Detail and Carwash 1J leads in the highly competitive open wheel modified class ahead of Jacob Hawkins and perennial winner Bird Wilson.

The “Mad Mexican” Troy Frazier of Clarksburg, WV currently leads the ultra-talented FASTRAK Late Model division at the ‘Bullring’. A star studded FASTRAK field has been the early season story as perennial top running crate late model runners including Mike Pegher, Aaron Barley, Gary Dalton, Henry Hornsby III, Ryan Montgomery, Shane Greco among the many tough ‘Bullring’ regulars have made for great racing so far.

Quite a battle is shaping up in the Gear 2 Graphics EDGE Hotmod division presented by Poske’s Performance Parts as defending Hotmod track champion Travis Thomas has went 3 for 3 so far in 2016 in his bid to repeat. However, Middlebourne’s Mick Baker has went 2 for 3 with his other run a 2nd place leaving the two veterans with a scant point separating the duo. With car counts into the 30’s the EDGE Hotmod division has been running two features a night giving all participants feature laps in the ever growing division.

Six points separate the top four racers in the Chris Metz State Farm Insurance Modlite division presented by Cedar Run Farms. Daniel Eddy of Pennsboro, WV aboard the 99e Eliminator/ Rush Construction/ Walton Electric and Supply heads up the early season point standings ahead of a host of young racers including Zack Kimbrew, Josh Baldwin and Ryan Saffell.

Multi-time track champion Donnie Wamsley of Clarksburg in the 00 machine currently sits atop the 4 Cylinder division ahead of Pennsboro’s Sambo Cokeley.

The youth of the Tyler County Speedway has been kicking off the program at the speedway with Tristan Borkoski and George Casto III heading up the future racers of the ‘Bullring’ in the Advanced and Junior divisions respectfully.
