Moran Masters Legendary Hilltop For STARS “Legends 30” Win

(Marietta, OH) “Legends”, it was the theme for AMRA STARS action over the weekend, perhaps there is no bigger legend to the STARS series than Donnie Moran. Moran was a four time champion of the tour during it’s prime and is still the STARS all-time wins leader. Needless to say the Moran name is synonymous with the STARS victory lane.

On Friday night at Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta, OH the Moran name was once again back on top during STARS action. However, no longer is Donnie behind the reigns of the family owned #99, instead son, Devin has piloted the Zanesville, OH entry for the last few seasons and done so without missing a beat with the Mid-Ohio Valley region.

Devin Moran in just his first ever STARS Late Model Alliance start would roll off from position #3 and take the lead from Freddie Carpenter after Carpenter looped his car in turn two on the lap fifteen mark. Meanwhile, Kyle Thomas, Tyler Carpenter, and Tim Dohm battled door to door for podium positions even trading some paint on the tight confines on the quarter-mile oval. The trio would finish in that order followed by Corey Conley to round out the top five. When the checkered fell on the thirty lap main event it was the Barry Wright Race Cars, Tommy Pope Construction, Dow Cameron Oil & Gas, Phillips Properties, Eddie’s Sunoco, All About Wraps, Accu-Force sponsored entry of Devin Moran who would conquer the $3,000 dollar payday.

“Every time we’ve been here we have been good” stated Moran. “First time we were ever here and we set a new track record. It just seems like our package is good here” concluded Moran.

Heat winners were; Freddie Carpenter, Kyle Thomas, Devin Moran, and Corey Conley. Fast time was set by Freddie Carpenter who was also running a throwback “e1” Mike Balzano decal scheme during the evening. Consolation winner was Doug Wriston Jr and current series points leader, Travis Brookover would finish eighth on the evening.
