Broughton Bests Brushcreek Sprint Cars

(Peebles, OH) With the weather finally breaking for a weekend of racing action at the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex, the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) rolled into town in search of the $1,500 payday! The Ohio Valley’s best sprint car teams battled their way along the 3/10 mile oval all night leading up to the feature event. Fans also seen the Ohio Thunder IMCA Racesaver 305 Sprint Car series, Modifieds and Legend Cars! With the warm sun beating down the smell of methanol was detectable throughout the valley and the sprint cars were on track.

The Modifieds took to the track first for their feature event. Dave McWilliams, Jeffery Surber, Derrick Austin and John Brady were all contenders throughout the night as they battled intensely through their heat races and on to the feature event. Surber and McWilliams were the class of the field and nearly even all night through the feature event. The race was slowed a handful of times for cautions and once under red flag conditions when John Brady crashed in turn number 3. Once the race resumed Dave McWilliams started the Championship season on the right foot with a Win on Saturday Night. Following McWilliams Across the line was was Jeffery Surber, Mike Meyers, Derrick Austin and Colton Wright rounded out the top 5. Jimmy Spillman also started his championship hunt on a strong note by picking up the Sport Mod win on Saturday Night. Spillman and McWilliams both started their Pay+ Program bonus charge with Spillman searching for a $50 Bonus if he can win next week and McWilliams a $100 Bonus. Anyone who beats the drivers with them at the track will get their bonus instead!

The Main Attraction, the OVSCA 410 Winged Sprint Cars hit the track at the attention of the push trucks! Ryan Broughton and Cale Thomas picked up heat race wins putting them on the front row for the 25 Lap Feature event. At the drop of the green flag Cale Thomas and Ryan Broughton jumped out into a battle of their own. Cale Thomas rocketed ahead and looked to be the car to beat as the caution flag flew for a spun car. At the restart Broughton took advantage and jumped back by and into the top spot! As the race rolled on the 22 and 91 cars were back and forth. On the final restart of the night Broughton asserted himself into the lead and never looked back. Ryan Broughton picked up his first win at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex after a colossal battle all night long! Rounding out the top 5 behind Broughton was Cale Thomas, Nathan Skaggs, Andre Layfield and Ron Blair! Jacob Hesson picked up the IMCA 305 Sprint Car win after a 15 Lap Race which followed the 410 Sprint Car race.

The Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series hit the track after the sprint cars. In a Championship race where every point matters, drivers were digging in the heat races which were won by Tommy Stout Sr. and Shaun Scott! The action didnt slow down come feature time either as the field thundered around the track headed for the checkered flag. Round #1 winner Tommy Stout was in a dead heat battle the entire event with Shaun Scott and his H&S Excavating number 88 car. The two swapped the lead several times as the field raced it out behind them. Different agendas highlighted the show as some drivers were picking up points and being conservative while others were out to win it all! When it was all said and done, Tommy Stout Sr. made it two in a row on the tour strengthening his point lead! Shaun Scott, Rusty DeMint, Cole DeMint and Steve Duderstadt rounded out the top 5! The Tour Heads to Atomic Speedway on Thursday May 12th and returns to BMC Saturday May 14th!

Brushcreek Motorsports Complex is back in action this Saturday May 14th with 1950′s Throwback Night and FIREWORKS! We will be playing hit music from the 1950′s and have trivia questions that are 1950′s related. The Season Opening FIREWORKS show that was rained out has been rescheduled for May 14th and will headline the action with Modifieds, Sport Mods, Legend Cars and a Team Enduro all racing.
