Legendary Hilltop Prepares For Home Stretch

With the days getting shorter and football teams back in action on Friday night, the racing season at the Hilltop Speedway outside of Marietta Ohio is preparing for their final stretch of racing action for the 2015 season. After a week off, to close out the month of August, Hilltop will bring the dirt racing action back to Marietta this Friday September 4th, with a night of regular racing in all classes to serve as a Labor Day weekend racing kickoff, across the Ohio Valley that will include the long popular Hillbilly 100 in Ripley West Virginia on Sunday night. The following week (September 11th) Hilltop will take a Friday night off once again, in observance of the Ohio River Sternwheeler Festival and other racing across the region. The second week off will give teams and fans alike, the chance to gear up for the final two AMRA sanctioned events of the year at the track, starting with the Operation Give a Vet a Car “Freedom 30” paying $1,200 to win for the AMRA Modifieds on September 18th. Along with the elevated purses and a sure to be top notch field of cars, the Freedom 30 evening will also see veteran tributes and countless giveaways for lucky fans in attendance, including free car tires, tool chests, oil changes and much more. Following the Freedom 30, on Friday September 25th, the highly anticipated season championship race for 2015 at Hilltop will take place with the 3rd annual running of the Ohio River Twin 40’s for the AMRA Late Models and Modifieds. These 40 lap races will feature large purses and an exciting 40 lap feature format in both Late Model and Modified classes, which will help decide the final 2015 season point champions at Hilltop. With some of the area’s best within striking distance of a season championship in Hilltop’s two highest billed classes, the final stretch of 2015 is sure to be an action packed shootout every race night!
