(Peebles, OH) After a week off for the Adams County Fair, Brushcreek Motorsports Complex returned to racing for Meet the Drivers Night last Saturday. Drivers and Fans alike were ready to get back to racing action after the midsummer break. The day was hot but the racing on track was about to heat up as well when the Crazy Compacts lined up for their Feature event!
Keith Anderson won his heat race but the invert didn’t go his way causing him to start near the rear of the field. Anderson knew he would have a battle with Clyde Saunders who is the current Crazy Compact points leader. As soon as the green flew Anderson made his charge forward and soon was followed closely by Saunders. They both worked their way to the front and soon, Saunders found himself trying to battle for the win. Clyde Saunders had to settle for second though as Keith Anderson rolled to another win! Rounding out the top 5 were Tim Howard, Dillon Fitzgerald and Basil Branham.
After Chris Smalley picked up another win in the Southern Ohio Lighting Mini-Sprints, the Hidden Gem Web Designs Sport Mods rolled out onto the speedway. Early in the Sport Mod race, teammates Ricky Neace and Brennan Bobst jumped up front. Bobst worked Neace for a few laps and finally made the pass. Bobst drove his number 24 car straight into Victory Lane for the second time in his career and the second time in a row at BMC. Neace wound up second followed by Billy Bowles, Danny Fout and Mike Wilson rounding out the top 5.
The Modifieds hit the speedway next. Rusty Hawes has been in position to win his first career modified race for several weeks but little things have wound up ruining his runs. On July 25th, everything finally looked to be going Hawes’ way. He jumped out to the lead early but had 2014 Track Champion Dave Jamison all over him. Several restarts were spread throughout the race but Hawes held on. Rusty Hawes picked up his first career feature win! Hawes was nearly Speechless in Victory Lane when asked about how it felt to finally win. Dave Jamsion came home second followed by Phillip Bapst, Tyler Smith and Jason Bilyeu.
The Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series was the final class to hit the track on Saturday which was their Second day of competition that weekend. Steve Duderstadt picked up the win Friday at Moler Raceway Park and was able to do it again on Saturday at Brushcreek. Relentless battles between several front running cars werent enough to overtake Duderstadt who lead nearly every lap of the 15 lap event. Following Duderstadt across the line were Cole DeMint, Derek Minshew, Rusty DeMint and Josh Francis.
