FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Mars, PA) One of the most successful concepts in regional Super Late Model racing will make its grand return for the 2015 season. The “New” UFo Championship for Super Late Models will showcase a limited number regional Super Late Model events in the Pennova region.

The New UFo Championship is an alliance between regional tracks to link their strong-paying regional Super Late Model events with common car rules, procedures and a season-ending point bonus fund. This original concept eliminates sanction fee costs for the tracks. Entry fees are greatly reduced for drivers while competing in higher paying events.

From 2008-2011, the UFo Championship was well-known for excellent car counts, spectacular racing and successful events fro the tracks. The same principals that made the UFo Championship a strong series during those years will be applied to the “New” UFo Championship for the benefit of the fans, drivers and race tracks.

The 2015 UFo schedule will include up to approximately 12 events with 8 events already confirmed. The range of eligible tracks will be within an approximate distance of 200 miles of Washington, PA. Tracks may contact ufo@ufochampionship.com or call 614-531-0653 for more information.

UFo Super Late Models will offer Super Late Model teams the option of various motor combinations offset by weight and spoiler variances to even competition. The UFo championship will compete under an open tire rule with some tracks requiring minimum hardness of compounds. Unlimited, spec, and the new all-aluminum GM CT525 will be permitted. Race teams will have more economical options to compete in the Super Late Model division.

Following with the lead of the successful Nesmith 525 Super Series in the south, rebuilt GM CT525 motors will not be allowed in competition. This will cut costs for the racers by eliminating unnecessary rebuilds. The GM CT525 motor has proven to be reliable and long-lasting. Over the life of the motor, the cost of a new GM CT525 is less than what would be spent on rebuilds of an open motor. The new bolts used in the sealing of these motors are nearly impossible to alter, so the elimination of rebuilds will also disallow the highest percentage of the possibility of cheating and rebuilder errors. The cost of a GM CT525 motor is approximately $7,200. Another a one-time purchase of approximately $2,800 of bolt-on equipment is required to adapt the motor to Super Late Model racing. This bolt-on equipment can be used again later on in time if a replacement motor is purchased.

Two spec motor packages are available using the lead of the southern SUPR series. An all-aluminum motor package using more specified parts can be assembled for approximately $17,500. A list of engine builders selling this engine for this price can be found at http://www.suprracing.com/Rules.htm. The traditional steel block/aluminum head motor option is also still available. This motor is similar to the current 358 Limited Late Model motors in the area with the exception that the Brodix spec aluminum head and spec intake are required with a cubic inch limit of 362.

The average car count in UFo history is 38/event over the history of the tour. Previous UFo Super Late Model champions include Alex Ferree of Saxonburg, PA in 2008 and 2009, Chad McClellan of Stoystown, PA in 2010, Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA in 2011 and Keith Barbara of South Park, PA in 2012. The most recent race at Hesston Speedway in July 2013 featured a 42 car field. Dan Stone of Thompson, PA took the first prize at that event. UFo Championship has featured high-competition among drivers. Davey Johnson of Greensburg, PA and Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV leading the all-time win list with 5 victories each out of the 73 races contested under the UFo banner to date.
