OVSCA Opener Joins AMRA Modifieds, Street Stocks & Sport Mods

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Atomic Speedway will host the season opener for the OVSCA Sprint Cars this Saturday, April 19, along with AMRA Modifieds, Sport Mods & Street Stocks. This week there will be no Late Models. Atomic Speedway management has also announced the running of the 1st Annual Bob Crace, Sr. Memorial on September 20.

Outlaw sprint cars at Atomic Speedway are the ‘perfect date’. The stars of the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association will be sure to impress fans as a contingent of veteran drivers and daring youth challenge Ohio’s fastest 3/8 mile high-banked dirt track. Last year’s champion was Nathan Skaggs of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Crace, Sr. Memorial Slated

The legendary driver Bob Crace, Sr. raced at the speedway for 54 years, passing two weeks ago at the age of 80. Not only was Bob Sr. a great driver in his day, but his business ‘C-M Racing Equipment’ has serviced parts for Atomic Speedway for 27 years. Bob built championship motors for Late Models, Modifieds and Street Stocks. Event information follows with purse details dedicated to the #23 that Crace campaigned during his career.

Sept 20, 2014 at ATOMIC SPEEDWAY will be the 1st annual Bob Crace, Sr Memorial.

“Most importantly to me,” said owner Brad McCown, “Bob was a great friend. He and son Bob, Jr. have gone out of their way to help me no matter what I’ve asked for in the 20+ years I’ve known them. Bob’s 81st birthday would have been one day before his upcoming memorial race. I just ask that everyone comes out to honor him and remember all he has done for the racing community.”

Race #3 in the DREADLAND HAUNTED WOODS Enduro series will continue April 26 after the regular races are complete. This event will be a 50 lap Enduro with No entry fee. Racers can pay regular night admission prices and go racing. The event will have the same payout and rules as the first 2 Enduros.

NDRL Invades Atomic

The National Dirt Racing League known predominantly as the NDRL will invade the Atomic Speedway for a three-day show May 8th, 9th, and 10th. It will be the first-ever invasion of what has quickly become the ‘Kings of Dirt’ for the powerful super late models on Ohio’s fastest 3/8 mile high-banked dirt track. The weekend will also feature three days of the AMRA modifieds and a combination of Sport Mods and Street Stocks as announced below. Currently, other national sanctions are taking this weekend off, allowing the best of the best to compete this 3-day weekend.

Friday night the Late Model feature pays $5,000 to win (May 9) and Saturday, May 10th Atomic hosts the grand finale “Atomic Blast” paying $15,000 to win out of a total $80,000 purse.

Food Drive Night

Food Drive Night April 26, 2014 will provide food to the local Chillicothe/Waverly area food banks. Race fans can bring 3 canned items of food or non-perishable items and get a reduced General Admission ticket for $10. For just ten bucks fans can see both the powerful 410 Outlaw Sprints and Late Models along with some of the best drivers in the support divisions-the World’s Fastest Open Wheel Modifieds—The Octane AMRA Modifieds, Street Stocks and a 50-lap Enduro.

The rained-out Fire/EMS/PD Night will be added to the schedule on Saturday July 19th. This will be a $3,000 to win show for the AMRA Late Models and include AMRA Modifieds, Street Stocks and Sport Mods.
