West Virginia Motor Speedway ready for 2013!

Mineral Wells, WV (03/12/2013) – The green flag is about ready to wave on on the 2013 racing season at West Virginia Motor Speedway (WVMS). For the first time over two years, the newly shortened 4/10 mile dirt oval will see a full slate of events from April through October. Eight events are currently scheduled with the potential for several more.

“I am very excited to finally be able to put together an attractive schedule of family entertainment for the fans.” said track president, Lynn Chapman. “The fans and racers have been very patient, and I can’t express how much I appreciate that. All of us involved with the facility feels that the events we have scheduled for 2013 will showcase the potential of this new racetrack.”

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, World of Outlaws Dirt Late Models, The UNOH All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars, Fastrak Crate Late Models, Renegades of Dirt traveling modified series, Vaters’ Monster Motor Sports Show, Modified Lite STARS International Championship Tour, 4-Cylinders and EDGE sanctioned E-Mods and Hot Mods will be featured at WVMS during the 2013 season.

Jimmy Owens, Scott Bloomquist, Don O’Neal, Steve Francis and other Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors kicks off the 2013 WVMS season on Sunday, April 21st. Also on that date is the Renegades of Dirt traveling modified series and EDGE Hot Mods.

The month of May will have two events at WVMS. The Fastrak crate late models “Wild & Wonderful 50” headline the May 11th event. It’s a $5,000 to win national event for the popular crate late model sanctioning body. Super late models, EDGE Hot Mods and the Modified Lite STARS International Championship Tour round out the event on Saturday, May 11th. On Saturday May 25th, (Memorial Day weekend) the popular Vaters Monster Motor Sports Show will be providing quality family entertainment with an assortment of Monster Trucks and other high adrenaline race vehicles. EDGE Hot Mods will also join the Vaters Monster Motor Sports Show to provide for value for the fans.

Sunday, June 16th will have the Renegades of Dirt traveling modified series “Speedweeks” finale at “The ‘Plant”. Super late models will headline the event with a $4,000 to win show. 4-cylinders will make their first appearance of the season.

The action at WVMS will make the 4th of July holiday hotter in 2013 as the The UNOH All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars make their lone visit to WVMS. EDGE E-Mods and Hot Mods, along with the Fastrak crate dirt late models round out the July 3rd event.

Racing on Labor Day weekend is a tradition in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Back for the first time since 2010, the World of Outlaws Dirt Late Models will kick off the racing action on Friday, August 30th. Joining the Outlaws will be the Renegades of Dirt traveling modified series and the Modified Lite STARS International Championship Tour.

Last year, Donnie Moran won the first annual “Buzzy Topless Classic”. This year, we’ll have to see if the “Million Dollar Man” can repeat the feat on Saturday, September 21st. The $4,000 to win topless super dirt late model show support classes will be announced at a later date.
